Whistle Stop has been on my radar forever, and I finally had the chance to visit on Friday! We came around 11, and it was pretty busy inside, but we were able to be seated right away at the bar. The staff was super friendly, and the service was incredibly quick. I also loved the cozy atmosphere. The menu was pretty large -- one full side is a mix of sweet and savory breakfast options, and the other is for lunch items. I ended up getting a fresh-squeezed orange juice and the pancake platter, complete with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and your choice of meat (I did bacon). It was very good! Fresh and delicious. I will say that for what I got I feel like it was a bit overpriced, but nothing that would keep me from coming back. Just something to keep in mind! I'd recommend making a stop here if you have the chance.

I wish I could give them more stars! We stop here every time we visit the Detroit area. Starting with your entry you're greeted by the host Bennie or his sister Laura. Seated in a bright room and you meet your server promptly. Coffee, juice and water almost immediately. The menu has something for everyone. Some standard dishes like skillets/omelets but also some more adventurous items, I recommend the cinnamon swirl pancakes for a sweet treat. The food comes out fast and hot! Several minutes is typical even on a busy morning. Don't be put off by a line outside the door. We've never waited more than 20-15 mins and the wait is worth it Prices are reasonable for the portions, service, and location Conveniently located near the Detroit Zoo, stop for breakfast before. COME! You'll thank me later!

This is one of our favorite places to get breakfast on the weekends. There's usually a wait when we go, but it's never longer than 15 minutes for a party of 2. They have indoor seating in two rooms, and some outdoor seating with umbrellas. It's a casual spot with service that is very efficient and reliable. The food is great for the prices and better than what you can get at Toast down the road. My boyfriend loves the Pleasant Ridge omelette and I like the Oh Cisco eggs benedict (gluten free without the English muffins and home fries). They have great iced coffee and latté options, too!

YUM. After a night of some fun we walked down to enjoy some breakfast. The space is small but works well. The staff was so friendly. The food? Perfection. True diner food but elevated! They had a vast menu with egg dishes, hashes, pancakes- YUM!

This is a really nice, small, and fresh place. Nicely tucked off street, plenty of parking, and right on the corner. Service was on point and always with a smile, which is always a star in my book. I had the Hippie w/ sausage, Parmesan grits, and a toasted baguette. When I tell you this was the fastest and HOTTEST omelet I've ever had that's no joke. The grits were a really pleasant surprise and went perfect with the plate. The crispy, salty, cheesy part of them was not expected and good. Kudos to the chef. My wife had the latke breakfast, her only critique was the latke's could have used a little more seasoning. Overall the service, price, and look of the place is what we like of a breakfast place. Definitely recommended.

This is one of my breakfast spots. It's a quaint little restaurant with sort of a retro vibe. I had the best breakfast skillet ever today. The Chief Skillet was so good. The cheese grits are good, too. The prices are average, and they serve nice size portions.

I like my greasy spoons in Detroit proper the most for breakfast. Whistle Stop Diner in Pleasant Ridge is a typical breakfast place you'll find in the suburbs. Nothing special but a nice place to meet up with friends for a standard American breakfast of eggs, meat, and potatoes. I ordered the Amherst. It came with two eggs, two sausages, hash browns, and two small pieces of toast along with their homemade jam for $13. Everything tasted fine and it was indeed a good place to have breakfast with a friend with a window seat view of Woodward Avenue. Friendly service.

I came here with my two sons who have eaten at this place before and they rave about it. They said normally when they are there on the weekends it's impossible to get in and there's usually a really long line. We happened to be free on a Friday morning so we were able to walk right in and sit down which was wonderful. Our waitress was right there to take our drink order and answer any questions. The water glasses are small but she brought a large glass pitcher for the table which was nice. I got the Hippie Omelette made with egg whites And it came with the choice of hashbrowns or Parmesan crusted grits. The grits actually looked like cornbread when they served it and it tasted delicious. They had probably five or six different types of breads to go with the breakfast but boring me got just the rye toast. Both of my sons ordered off of the specials menu. One got the French eggs Benedict and the other son got the breakfast quesadillas. We all enjoyed our meals very much and the portions were large and the food was delicious.
